Sigh…
Tuesday, January 24th, 2006I suppose I should encrypt my database files to reduce the risk of people hacking my website. I am going to have to get creative so that even people with root access can’t post. Oh well, I was given fair warning. On 2006-01-12 the following chat occurred:
(22:55:15) Dad: If you don’t update your blog pretty soon, I am going to.
(22:55:28) Tim: sigh…
(22:55:30) Tim: i should
But obviously I didn’t.
My Dad pretty much summed up my winter break. I went home for Christmas, got presents, went to Santa Barbara for a week, moaned and complained about not having a car, ate good food, whined about my lack of a car, helped (kind of) the TRC kick off the new robotics season, got a car (1996 Jeep Cherokee given to me by my Uncle Tom), crashed it, flew back to Montana and started classes. Since then I have been extremely busy with school, work and extracurricular activities.
2 weekends ago, I went camping with a couple of my friends. We drove to the trailhead for Lava Lake on Friday night and camped at the car. It was a full moon so I got the brilliant idea that we should wake up early and start hiking. I wanted to get up at 3, compromised for 4. The car was parked in a no-parking zone overnight, so when we woke up, we tried to move it to the parking lot. There was about 1.5 feet of snow on the road and we got stuck before going 100ft. We ended up spending 3 hours getting the car the rest of the way to the parking lot using 2 shovels and a car jack. Then we went for a snowshoe hike.
Last weekend, I went snowboarding. There had not been snow in a while, so it was almost as bad as the best day at Snoqualmie. Now it is time for homework…
