Almost Done

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

I was going over the data that I log from my website, and I realized that a fairly large number of people keep checking my website, and I am not updating it. There is some interesting data in my logs. For example, more visitors use comcast for their internet providers than anyother provider (10 out of 47). Also on 14/4/05 1:54am, a browser called FindLinks visited from aspra10.informatik.uni-leipzig.de. Uni-leipzig.de is a university in Germany, what is up with their brower, and why are the visiting my website. In addition, a robot (I assume) from sv-crawlfw3.looksmart.com visited. I searched looksmart and they don’t have my page in their database, but they should not be viewing because of robots.txt. Whatever.

Since my last post, I have gone backpacking, rock climbing and to the FIRST national championship in Atlanta. Unfortunately, I don’t have the motivation to write about all of those things now. In other news, I am coming home soon. Classes end this Friday, and after one week of finals, I am leaving Bozeman for home on Saturday, May 7th. Then I have nothing to do until Sunday, June 5th, when my NASA internship starts. It is going to be nice to go home.

Politics at MSU

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

A The Facebook page got started at Montana State a couple of days ago. Already there are 220 people signed up with profiles. I decided to conduct a search of the number of conservative/liberal people here. From my observations, I have noticed many more liberal minded people, but that could be due to the people I choose to associate with. Here are my findings:

Very Conservative: 4
Conservative: 32
Liberal: 46
Very Liberal: 8
Libertarian: 3

This of course only takes in to account a very small percentage of MSU students, but as more people sign up to Facebook, it should get more accurate.

Semester Burnout

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005

I am really tired of school. It has been going on for too long. Fortunately, it is almost over. I need to meet with my advisor so that I can figure out what classes I am going to take next year. From looking at the courses I need to take, it seems like I can hold out for one more semester without deciding if I want to major in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. If I keep with Computer Engineering, I will only take one more computer science class for my major, the rest of the classes are electrical engineering classes. But if I take one extra class, I can still change majors without any problems. If all goes well, I will take these classes next semester:

  • CS 222 - Discrete Math
  • MATH 225 - Differential Equations
  • EE 206 - Circuits I
  • PHYS 212 - Electricity and Magnetism
  • CS 223 - Advanced Data Structures and Algorithms

That is a total of 17 credits. It looks like my schedule is going to be pretty bad though. Most of the classes only have one meeting time, so I don’t have much flexibility. I won’t have any classes before 11am. Since I won’t wake up before then, I won’t have mornings to do anything, and I won’t have any free afternoons because I will have classes. Oh well. I am looking forward to the FIRST championship competition.

Version 2.0

Saturday, April 2nd, 2005

It’s done. It looks almost identical, but it is valid XHTML 1.1 instead of HTML 4.0. Also there are lots of changes that took place in the code which make maintaining it easier. I know there are still broken links. They will be fixed after I get some sleep.
